Base isolation retrofitting design for the existing 2-story stone building and its Conversion into a 3-Story kindergarten

Recently the Armenian Missionary Association of America (AMAA) has approached author this paper with request to carry out base isolation retrofitting design for existing 2-story building stone bearing walls and simultaneously convert it into a 3-story kindergarten. In Armenia seismic buildings is becoming more common method providing protection from earthquake damage. Thanks author’s works in nowadays well known as country where (base roof) systems are widely implemented construction new buildings. The number seismically isolated per capita one highest world – second after Japan. given below emphasizes that achieved significant results also local manufacturing/testing laminated rubber-steel bearings (SILRSBs). Several remarkable projects on by like apartment, school, hotel hospital briefly mentioned demonstrate experience accumulated Armenia.
